China's shipbuilding with over 15% of global production

At the work conference of the national defense, science and technology
industry held yesterday, it was revealed that China's shipbuilding
industry grew rapidly in 2004. The total carrying capacity of completed
vessels exceeded 8.5 million tons, accounting for more than 15% of global
production, and enabled China to maintain its third place ranking in the
world for the tenth year in a row. The photo shows a ten-thousand-ton
ship made by a shipbuilding company from Zhejiang Province that will
begin its sea voyage soon.
