Chinanews Mar.17 - Yesterday, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)
released its 2004 annual report, revealing that the company's net profit
totaled 102.9 billion yuan (US.4 billion), an increase of 47.9% from the
same period last year. According to yesterday's RMB foreign exchange
rate, CNPC has become the most profitable listed company in Hong Kong,
taking the place of HSBC Holdings, which posted an annual profit of 92.2
billion HK dollars in 2004.
CNPC announced that its sales volume in 2004 totaled 388.633 billion
yuan, up 27.9% over the previous year. Primary and diluted earnings per
share reached 0.59 yuan, up 0.19 yuan over 2003. CNPC's board of
directors suggested declaring a 0.147511 yuan final dividend in 2004. If
the medium-term declared dividend of 0.1159 yuan per share were included,
the declared dividend for 2004 would be 0.26 yuan per share.
CNPC indicated that if petroleum prices remain high, this year's profit
would exceed 100 billion yuan. As for its plan for A shares, CNPC said
that it has been working on the issue, but still has no specific plan.
