Apr. 18 - Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing told visiting Japanese
Foreign Minister Machimura Nobutaka on Sunday in Beijing that "a correct
view of history" is a precondition for improving and developing
Sino-Japanese relations.
"The Japanese government have recently done a lot things that harm the
feelings of the Chinese people on issues like Taiwan and other
international matters like human rights and the subject of history."
Li Zhaoxing said he hoped Japan would take concrete actions to fulfill
its pledge to face up to and self-examine its history of invasion.
Tokyo approved a new edition of a high school history textbook earlier
this month, which glosses over Japanese atrocities and aggression during
the Second World War.
In addition, the Chinese government considers it's decision to issue
licences for drilling for oil and gas in the East China Sea as a serious
provocation.
