Chinese Ambassador to US leaves after term

In the evening of Feb 26, 2005 (local time), the Overseas Chinese
Community in Washington D.C. held a farewell for Yang Jiechi who was
leaving his post as the Chinese Ambassador to the United States. Zhou
Jian (right), one of the leaders of the Overseas Chinese Community,
presented a plaque to ambassador Yang on behalf of the community, and
praised him for his contributions to the development of Sino-American
relationship. Yang Jiechi succeeded Li Zhaoxing as the ambassador to the
United States four years ago. Before that he was a vice Minister of
Foreign Affairs.
